27 East 65 Street - Upper East Side, New York

Built in 1963 and converted to a cooperative in 1984, this 17-story building once had the distinction of being the only light blue brick high-rise residential building in Manhattan. That distinction was short-lived, however. In 2001 it was reported that the building would change the color of its brick fa??ade. White and light colors had become popular, as they signified modernity and a "lightening" of the urban palette. The original blue was replaced by a light reddish orange brick, and the building's lobby, rooftop and hallways were redesigned. Building amenities include a garage and a full-time doorman. Central Park is just a block to the east, and many of the building's 83 apartments have park views. This prime Upper East Side location is also convenient to the Midtown office district and a short walk from the fashionable boutiques, restaurants and art galleries of Madison Avenue as well as some of the city's best museums and cultural institutions, Wollman Skating Rink and the Central Park Zoo.
